James Michael Brown

James Michael Brown, age 75, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Fonda, died April 7, 2011 in Oklahoma City.

Memorial service will be Saturday, April 16, at 11:30 a.m. at the Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery in Fonda. The Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda is in charge of the arrangements.

James Michael was born Oct. 23, 1935 to William and Mary Jane (Hammen) Brown in Rockwell City. Growing up he attended school in Fonda.

On March 5, 1957 he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1963.

James was committed to working on the farm and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially gardening.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Maria Stanley of Paso Robles, Calif.; Michael (Sabrina) Brown of Sunray, Texas; and Wanda Taylor of Newell; stepchildren: Sherry (Jack) Tourtilloutt of Chapman, Neb.; Mary Lampe of Wichita Falls, Texas; Lori Taylor of Wichita Falls, Texas; Robert (Carmalee) of Wichita, Kan.; and Bruce (Valerie) Winebrinner of Sunray, Texas; twenty grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother, William Brown of Indianola; and sister, Catherine Kolb of Ida Grove; nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Charolette Wissick.
