Helen Goetschius, age 86, of Live Oak, Texas and formerly of Newell, died March 28, 2011 in Live Oak.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell is in charge of the arrangements.
Helen Louise Williams was Born Feb. 25, 1925 in Watertown, S.D. the daughter of George W. and Helen A. (Dahlstrom) Williams. Growing up, she attended school through the eighth grade. On Dec. 28, 1944, Helen was united in marriage to Glenn (Bill) Goetschius. Together, they were blessed with two children, Dawn and Allan. Helen enjoyed being a homemaker, farm wife, and raising her two children. She also worked at the Newell Dairy Mart then as a clerk at a grocery store for many years in Newell. Later as a sales clerk at a drug store in Texas, retiring at age 72. Helen loved and treasured her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Dawn (Stan) Nordel of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; Allan (Diane) Goetschius of San Antonio, Tex.; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one Great-great-grandchild in the hatch, due very soon; sister, Georgia Sears of Sioux Falls, S.D.; brother, Harlan Williams of Watertown, S.D.; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen; husband, Glenn (Bill); brothers: Howard, Harry, John, Richard, and Roy Williams and; Sister, Vyonne Dunn.
