Larry McCullough, age, 62, of Storm Lake, died March 9, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Alta VFW Post #6172 provided full military rites. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
Larry Dean McCullough was born in Fort Dodge, to Claude "Bud" and Velma (Jarvis) McCullough on June 29, 1948. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Larry attended kindergarten and first grade in New Virginia, and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1967. He later received his Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Central Community College.
Larry enlisted in the United States Navy in July of 1968. He trained at boot camp in San Diego, Calif. and served on the USS Oriskany until May of 1970. He was in inactive reserve until 1974.
He was united in marriage on Dec. 27, 1968 to Louise Rohlfsen at the Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus. Together they were blessed with one daughter, Jennifer Lynn.
Larry and Louise have lived in Storm Lake since their marriage. He spent most of his life as an auto mechanic. Larry took over his father's business known as "Bud's Alignment" for fifteen years.
Larry enjoyed going to Des Moines to spend time with his daughter. He also liked keeping a nice yard, taking care of his vehicles, grilling, watching NHRA, and spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Velma McCullough of Storm Lake; wife, Louise McCullough of Storm Lake; daughter, Jennifer McCullough of West Des Moines; brothers: Steve McCullough of Storm Lake; David (Joan) McCullough of Phoenix, Ariz.; and sister, Jane (John) Nielsen of Glendale, Ariz.; extended family and a host of friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Bud; grandparents; and two nephews.
