Maria M. Pencook, age 28, of Albert City, died March 7, 2011 near Holstein, as the result of an automobile accident.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City. Burial was in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City was in charge of the arrangements.

Maria Margaret Pencook, the daughter of Frank Pencook and Barbara (Lee) Pencook, was born in Fort Dodge, on Aug. 2, 1982. At an early age, Maria moved with her family to Albert City where she lived her youth and received her education. Maria was a 2001 graduate of the Albert City-Truesdale High School. She continued her education at Dordt College in Sioux Center, and completed her bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Phoenix. Maria was currently pursuing her master's degree. She was employed at Market Link in Storm Lake.

Maria was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Albert City where she had assisted with the Wednesday Night Junior High Youth. Throughout her lifetime, she had been an active member of the 4-H Club. Maria loved music and especially enjoyed the music of Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith. You could often find Maria on her computer and keeping in touch with her friends on Facebook. Other special interests of Maria's were reading and communicating with her friends on the phone. Maria had a compassionate heart and will be remembered by those who knew her as a person who reached to people with disabilities and those going through a difficult time in their lives. It was those times that her qualities of being a caretaker came through.

Maria's life is honored and cherished by her mother, Barbara (Lee) Pencook of Albert City; brother, Nathan Pencook of Albert City; father, Frank Pencook of King City, Calif.; grandmother, Marjorie Lee of Humboldt; aunt, Margaret McKenney of Humboldt; cousins: Heather and Laura; a second cousin, Landon; other extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather and her paternal grandparents.

May Maria's life continue to be lived out through the lives of her family and friends.
