Velma Gwendolyn Victoria Skog, the youngest daughter of Amadus and Ida (Anderson) Skog, was born on the family farm on May 20, 1916. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Gwen grew up on the farm and attended school in Albert City, where she graduated as the class valedictorian.

On Saturday evening, Dec. 20, 1940, Gwen was united in marriage to William G. Johnson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gunnard Johnson, at her parents' farm home. Gwen and Bill lived in her father's house and then moved to a farm north of Albert City called "The 90". A few years later, they moved back to Albert City into a home they purchased on Elm Street.

Gwen was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was a busy homemaker, baking, cleaning, quilting and making carpets. Gwen will be remembered by all who knew her as a hard worker and a devoted friend.
