Robert J. Reideler, 93, of Boone, formerly of Twin Lakes, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. His wishes were to be cremated and memorial services will be at a later date.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Helenrose; daughters, Beth Reideler of Montrose, Colo., Mary (Dave) Gidel of Twin Lakes, Roberta Reideler of Boone; three grandsons; and two great grandsons.
Robert (Bob) was born on Sept. 8, 1917, to Fredrick and Nora Reideler in Downers Grove, Ill. He graduated from Downers Grove High School and Cornell College in Mount Vernon. After graduation in 1943, he joined the Navy and served in WWII as a chief engineering officer on two destroyers in the Pacific. In 1943, Bob married Helenrose Nelson in Cherokee. After the war, he worked for Iowa Public Service Company in Cherokee, Rockwell City, Storm Lake and Waterloo. Bob retired in 1982 and moved to Twin Lakes. In 2007, Bob and Helenrose moved to the Eastern Star Home in Boone.
Bob enjoyed golf, playing bridge, fishing in Canada, and spending time with his family. He was a 50 year Mason and a member of Rotary.
