Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial was in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
Bruce L. Mandernach was born Aug. 27, 1940 in Storm Lake, the son of Ray and Irene (Mahler) Mandernach. He was baptized on Oct. 4, 1940 at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake and later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in 1954. Growing up, Bruce attended grade school and graduated from Truesdale High School in 1958.
On Aug. 19, 1962 Bruce was united in marriage to Eileen Wilde at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Together they were blessed with four children: Rhonda, Rod, Ryan and Reece.
Bruce enjoyed farming, fishing and raising cattle. He treasured the time he was able to spend with friends and family and always looked forward to his grandchildren's activities. Bruce loved reading hunting and beef magazines and enjoyed western movies, especially anything that John Wayne starred in. In addition, Gun Smoke and Bonanza were some of his favorite western shows. Some of Bruce's special memories are of his times traveling south in the winters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Eileen; his children: Rhonda (Ron) Degner; Rod (Melisa); Ryan (Sherry); Reece (Mary Ann); grandchildren: Rachel (Dan) Bernhardt; Shayla (Brian) Iehl; Shane Degner; Chelsea, Mackenzie, Aaron, and Bailey Mandernach; Tyler, Alexis, and Jeremy Mandernach; brothers: Gene (Gladys) Mandernach of Lakeside; John (Millie) Mandernach of Adel; Darrel (Linda) Mandernach of DeSmit, S.D.; sister, Jeannine Johnson of Storm Lake; mother-in-law, Gladys Wilde of Storm Lake; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Donnie) Kapsch of Humboldt; Penny Wilde of Fonda; brother-in-law, Don (Jan) Wilde of Burnet, Tex.; extended family and many friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Irene Mandernach; father-in-law, Henry Wilde; brother-in-law, Les Wilde.
