Elva M. Howe
Elva M. Howe, age 83, of Sioux Rapids, died on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at the Sioux Care Center at Sioux Rapids.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon. Burial was in the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids was in charge of the arrangements.
Elva Myrtle Gunnarson, the daughter of Victor and Myrtle (Johnson) Gunnarson, was born at her parent's home in Marathon, on Nov. 8, 1926. She lived her youth and received her education in Marathon. Elva was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon. She worked at home throughout her lifetime.
Elva was united in marriage to Jerry Howe on June 3, 1995, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon. Elva and Jerry made their home in the communities of Marathon, Peterson, and Sutherland. Since June 22, 2001, she has been a resident of the Sioux Care Center. Her special interests included doing embroidery work, visiting with her family and friends, and Elva will be remembered as an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Sioux Rapids; Jerry's children: Jim and Deborah Howe of Peterson; Molly and Todd Cogley of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Robin and Dwight Patrick of Peterson; several grandchildren and a great grandson; her sister and her husband, Viola and Ed Weiland of Rolfe; other extended family and friends.
Elva was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Eldon Gunnarson; her sister, Ruth Marie Gunnarson; and a step son, Jerry Joe Howe, Jr.
