Teresa Dusing Tischer, age 51, of Pocahontas, died Sept. 12, 2010 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at the OLGC Catholic Church in Fonda. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fonda. The Mahaney Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Teresa Ann Dusing was born Aug. 25, 1959, in Fonda, the daughter of James and Doris Dusing. She was a graduate of the Fonda Community School, and received her RN degree from Iowa Central in Storm Lake. Teresa was married to Richard Tischer on March 11, 2002, and they lived together in Pocahontas. Teresa had four children from a previous marriage.

Teresa's simple trust in Jesus was a foundational rock, and she loved her children above all else of this world. Teresa was a light in any room as people seemed to gravitate toward her. Her genuineness was apparent in social settings, and that honesty was what made her such a compassionate health care professional that always put patients first.

She was survived by her husband, Richard Tischer of Pocahontas; her children: Joshua J. Walsh (Cynthia) of Newell, Michael R. Walsh (Carrie) of Newell, Katrina Walsh of Pocahontas, and Cassondra Walsh of Pocahontas; her two step-children: Jace and Joy Tischer of Lafayette, Ind.; her parents: James and Doris Dusing of Fonda; her sisters: Bonnie (Dan) Walker of Fonda, Shirley (Louis) Stauter of Fonda, Emily (Michael F.) Walsh of Colorado, Jane (John) Schoen of Florida, Paula (David) Baase of Missouri; her brother: Steven J. Dusing of Fonda; her brothers-in-law: John (Candace) Tischer of Elliot, Michael (Connie) Tischer of Estherville; her grandchildren: Austin, Jocelyn, Ellie, Leilani, Kuentin, and Kylie; a plethora of nieces and nephews, and two aunts (Millie and Esther), much extended family, Marge Dietrich, and many friends.

Teresa was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Donald and Mary Tischer; and preceded in death by her nephew: Michael Stauter.
