Robert Evans, age 82, of Storm Lake, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010 at Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Dean Evans, the son of James Dean and Gladys (Goodall) Evans, was born in Fort Dodge, on April 13, 1928. Bob was baptized at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Fort Dodge on April 17, 1928. He lived his youth and received his education in Sioux City. Bob served his country faithfully following World War II in the United States Navy. His dates of service were from April 16, 1946 to Feb. 10, 1948.

On Feb. 25, 1966, Bob was united in marriage to Darlene Price in Sioux City. Following their marriage they lived in Sioux City for one year and then moved to Denver, Colo., where they resided for the next 20 years. Since 1984, Bob and Darlene have made their home in Storm Lake. Throughout his lifetime, Bob was an accomplished carpenter and he taught many people his expert craftsmanship in the carpentry business. Bob enjoyed building and doing woodworking and will be remembered as a loyal friend to many people.

Bob was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Storm Lake and a lifetime member of the Broomfield, Colo., VFW Post # 9565.

Those who will always love and cherish Bob's memory include his wife: Darlene of Storm Lake; his children: Mike and Diane Evans of McCook Lake, S.D.; and Jerri Dillavou and Susie Church both of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; one brother, Oral Evans of Angola, Ind.; his sister, Genelle Max of Denver, Colo.; other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters: Margie and Sandi; and one brother, Glen.
