Four juveniles arrested after breaking into S. Elementary school

* On Sunday, Aug. 29, at approximately 6:30 p.m. the Storm Lake Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the South Elementary School located at 310 Cayuga Street in reference to an automated fire alarm.

Upon arrival of public safety personnel, fire fighters entered the building and discovered that the school had been burglarized by forced entry through a window and that person(s) unknown had discharged several fire extinguishers which caused an alarm to activate. Damage and clean up to the facility is estimated at $2,000.

Police conducted an investigation and allege that four juvenile males broke a window on the school and then entered the building. They then discharged the fire extinguishers and fled from the building when the alarms activated.

Following up on information collected during the investigation, on Sunday evening police located and arrested three 11-year-old juveniles and one 10-year-old juvenile, all of Storm Lake. All four juveniles were charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree (both class D felonies). All four juveniles were processed and released to a parent pending a court date.

The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.

Trespassing call leads to arrest of SL man for sleeping in wrong house

* On Saturday, Aug. 28, at approximately 6:15 a.m. the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to 204 Oneida Street in reference to a subject trespassing in the residence.

Upon arrival of police they met with the reporting party who advised police that an unknown male was sleeping on a couch in the residence.

Police made contact with the male subject and identified him as Ramon Rodriguez-Murillo, age 31 of Storm Lake. Police allege that Rodriguez-Murillo was intoxicated and had entered the wrong house through an unlocked door.

Following an investigation police arrested Rodriguez-Murillo and charged him with Criminal Trespass and Public Intoxication. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.

SL man arrested for improper use of 911

* On Saturday, Aug. 28, at approximately 3:18 a.m. the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to 517 Superior Street in reference to a 911 call.

Upon arrival of police they spoke with a subject identified as Willie Williams, age 27 of Storm Lake. Williams allegedly on more than one occasion had dialed 911 and wanted police to contact his wife in Chicago, Ill. because she would not answer the phone when he called.

Williams had been previously warned on the improper use of the 911. Police arrested Williams and charged him with Improper Use of the 911 System. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.

Two SL men arrested in early morning argument

* On Sunday, Aug. 29, at approximately 2:30 a.m. a Storm Lake Police Officer while on patrol observed an argument between two male subjects in the 600 block of Lake Avenue.

Officers intervened in the argument and subsequently arrested both men. Police arrested David Gonzalez, age 24 of Storm Lake. A second male identified as Ricardo Tello-Reyes, age 23 of Storm Lake attempted to leave the area and upon being detained by officers he resisted arrest and was subdued after a brief struggle.

Police charged Gonzalez with Disorderly Conduct and booked him into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.

Police charged Tello-Reyes with Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication and Interference With Official Acts. He was booked into the county jail on a $300 cash bond.

Tello-Reyes received minor injuries in his struggle with police. No officers were injured.

SL man arrested and charged after fight; second subject sought

* On Tuesday, Aug. 25, at approximately 1:31 p.m. a Storm Lake Police Officer while at the Kum and Go Store on Flindt Drive was advised of a fight in progress in the 700 block of Russell Street.

The officer proceeded to the Russell Street location where he observed one of the subjects fleeing on a bike. After telling the subject to stop the officer was able to apprehend the subjects in the 400 block of Russell Street.

Police identified the male as Cassius Murray, age 23 of Storm Lake.

Police returned to the 700 block of Russell Street and interviewed several subjects. It was determined that a fight had allegedly occurred between Murray and a second adult male who fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

Police arrested Murray and charged him with Disorderly Conduct and Interference With Official Acts. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.

A second person is being sought by police in connection with the fight.

SL man and two juveniles charged after fight

* On Tuesday, Aug. 25, at approximately 12:07 p.m. a Storm Lake Police Officer while on patrol observed an altercation taking place in the 900 block of Russell Street near the entrance to Iowa Central Community College.

Police intervened and allege that two subjects were attempting to fight with a third subject. As police were securing the three one of the involved males resisted an officer but was brought under control quickly.

Following an investigation police arrested Able Medina, age 20 of Storm Lake and charged him with Interference With Official Acts. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.

Police further charged a 17 year old male and a 16 year old male both of Storm Lake with Disorderly Conduct. Both juveniles were processed and released to a parent pending a court date.

The juveniles' files will be forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.
