Four SL juveniles charged after burglary attempt

* On Thursday, Aug. 26, at approximately 4:09 p.m. the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to 714 West Milwaukee Avenue in reference to a burglary in progress.

As officers were responding they were advised that four young males had fled from the building and ran into the Tienda Morales Store on West Milwaukee Avenue. The four suspects then ran through the back door of the store and fled on foot eastbound on West 7th Street. Police converged on the area and apprehended all four juveniles near the intersection of West 7th and Ontario Street. One of the four resisted officers and was subdued.

Following an investigation police arrested a 14-year-old juvenile of Storm Lake and charged him with Burglary 3rd Degree (class D felony) and Interference With Official Acts (simple misdemeanor).

In addition police arrested and charged three 12-year-old juveniles all of Storm Lake with Burglary 3rd Degree (class D felony).

All four were processed and released to a parent pending a court date.

The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.

Wanted subjects arrested

* On Thursday, Aug. 26, at approximately 6:50 p.m. a Storm Lake Police Officer stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of East 10th Street for a traffic violation.

Upon contacting the occupant identified as Nathan David Tool, age 19 of Gilmore, City, it was determined that Tool was wanted by the Storm Lake Police Department on the charge of Theft 3rd Degree (aggravated misdemeanor). The charge stemmed from an investigation into a laptop computer valued at $875 that allegedly was not returned to Buena Vista University.

Tool was booked into the county jail on a $2,000 cash bond.

* On Thursday, Aug. 26, at approximately 5:00 p.m. the Storm Lake Police Department responded to 608 ½ Vestal Street in reference to locate a wanted subject.

Upon arrival police located and arrested Antoine Bell, age 33 of Storm Lake who was wanted out of Cherokee County, on a warrant charging him with Possession of Marijuana 3rd Offense (aggravated misdemeanor).

Bell was booked into the county jail on a $2,000 cash bond.

* On Thursday, Aug. 26, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Storm Lake Police responded to 408 Ontario Street in reference to located a wanted subject.

Upon arrival of police they made contact with and arrested Vongdeuane Satibanchong, age 34 of Storm Lake who was wanted on a warrant charging him with Violation of Probation reference Theft 2nd Degree.

Satibanchong was booked into the county jail on a $5,000 cash bond.

* On Thursday, Aug. 26, at approximately 5:30 a.m. a Storm Lake Police Officer while on patrol checked a registration on a vehicle and determined the registered owner was wanted.

Police stopped the vehicle in the 500 block of Flindt Drive and made contact with Gina Esmeralda Ruiz, age 24 of Alta, and arrested her on a warrant charging her with Theft 5th Degree. The warrant was issued in connection with the failure to return library materials.

Ruiz was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.
