For a group of Storm Lake Boy Scouts their final projects have become more than just the final step towards Eagle Scout, it's been about making a difference in their community. Four area boys are currently working on their scout projects which include cleaning up a walking path near Little Storm Lake, raising money for an Automated External Defibrillator at the Methodist Church, helping with the installation of a Memorial Fountain at the Methodist Church and spearheading the installation of a sidewalk at Genesis Development.

Senior Ben Olson with Troop 104, moved to Storm Lake from Utah with his family a year ago and says he is a really outdoorsy person. He is in the process of cleaning up a path that winds along an edge of Little Storm Lake. He approached the City of Storm Lake and asked them if they had any projects they'd like to see completed. "They gave me three or four ideas, this one kinda grabbed my attention," he says.

The three block trail which winds through the woods along Little Storm Lake was formed as as part of an Eagle Scout project several years ago, says Olson's Scout Master Marion Johnson, but over the years has been somewhat neglected. Trees and brush in the area have become overgrown, people have left trash along the way and the trail and parking area near the trail were somewhat hidden.
