Alta fell behind early but rallied for a 26-24 victory in the first set, before closing with sets of 25-17 and 25-13.
"We started out extremely slow and had to make a hard fought comeback in the first game," said Alta head coach Jeannie Henningsen. "When we started passing and got our offense rolling, then we started to put the ball down. They are an athletic team and it was a good way to start out the season."
Leading the way for the Cyclones, Jordan Henningsen connected on 21-of-29 attempts for a 14-kill effort. Haley Payne was 17-of-19 with nine kills. Hillary Glienke was 9-of-12 for seven kills and added four blocks on the defensive end.
Courtney Van Haaften did well to set up the offense with 24 assists.
At the service line, Katie Garrison was 18-of-19, and Meagan Phipps was 12-for-13 with two aces.
On the defensive end, Henningsen and Glienke led the way with 14 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Cyclones (1-0) are now off until Tuesday, when they visit Kingsley-Pierson. JV begins at 6PM with varsity to follow.
