SL man arrested for domestic abuse downtown, two days after getting out of jail

Friday, August 27, 2010
A Storm Lake man has been arrested for Domestic Abuse While Displaying a Weapon and a felony charge of Going Armed with Intent after allegedly threatening to harm his pregnant wife with a handgun, which was later determined to be a BB gun that looked identical to an actual firearm.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, a Storm Lake officer on patrol was flagged down by a man who said his pregnant wife was having stomach pains and needed emergency medical help. The officer went with the man to the basement of the Celeste Fashions store on Lake Avenue where the woman was located. Police then learned that the couple had been involved in a domestic dispute, and that Ramon Rodriguez Murillo, 31, of Storm Lake, had allegedly threatened the woman with the weapon. Police later found the BB gun and seized it. The woman was transported to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center by ambulance, but was not injured. Murillo was booked into jail and held without bond.

Murillo, a native of Mexico who is not a U.S. citizen, according to county jail records, has been arrested four times in the past month, with previous charges including intoxication, OWI, careless driving and disorderly conduct. He was just released from his last arrest two days before the domestic incident.
