Craig Urban, age 51, of Newell, died June 18, 2010 at his home in Newell.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Summit Evangelical Free Church in Alta. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present during that time. Interment will be in the Cedar Cemetery in Larrabee. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Craig Francis Urban, the son of Francis W. and Melva J. (Rasche) Urban, was born in Portland, Ore., on Dec. 24, 1958. He received his education in Newell and Craig was a 1977 graduate of the Newell Providence High School. Craig continued his education at Northwest Missouri State where he received his bachelor's degree in finance.
Craig was united in marriage to Connie Schmidt on May 25, 1991, at the Faith Bible Fellowship in Storm Lake and this couple was blessed with two children, Amanda Ann and Cory Francis. Craig was employed as a registered representative for State Bond and Mortgage for 16 years. His most recent employment has been in a sales position with the Register Receipt Advertising Company, Inc.
Craig's family and friends were a very meaningful part of his life and he cherished the time he could spend with all of them. Craig received special enjoyment from watching his son, Cory, participate in numerous skateboarding competitions. He was also a sports enthusiast and enjoyed golfing and softball. Craig will be remembered as an avid San Francisco 49'ers fan and he was a coach for the baseball and basketball teams Cory played on. Craig attended Summit Evangelical Free Church.
Craig was loved very deeply and will be missed greatly by his family which include his daughter, Amanda Urban and her boyfriend, Adam Lesher, of Schaller; his son, Cory Urban of Newell; his mother, Melva Urban, of Newell; his brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Andrea Urban of Quimby, nephews and nieces: Daniel, Rebecca, Naomi, Bethany, and Nathaniel Urban; his step-daughter: Nina Zebley, two step grandchildren: Destiny and McKenna Davis of Waterloo, aunts; uncles; other extended family and the many friends whose lives he touched throughout his lifetime. Craig was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild, Savannah Kay Lesher, next month.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Urban; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Florence Urban and his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Dora Rasche.
