Ruth Ann, the youngest child of Roy Cleveland and Mabel Evans Cleveland was born on April 29, 1920 in Linn Grove. In 1939, Ruth Ann Cleveland married Gordon Snyder and lived in the Linn Grove/Sioux Rapids area until Gordon's death in 1957. They had two children, Janet and James. Following her husband's death, Ruth Ann taught elementary school in Storm Lake at North School.
In 1959, Ruth married Robert W. Russell and resided in Schaller. Later they moved to Early and lived there until Robert's death in 1979. At the time of his death, he was mayor of Early. Following the loss of her husband, she moved to Omaha to be near her family where she lived until her death.
Ruth Ann graduated high school in Linn Grove and received her college education at Buena Vista College, finishing there in 1957. Besides teaching in Storm Lake, she taught in Schaller as well as at the Crestland Schools.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Snyder Baccari (M. Edward) of Omaha, Neb. and a son, James G. Snyder (Neta) of Bishop, Calif. Grandchildren who survive are Edward J. Baccari of Los Angeles, Calif., Ann Baccari Steffes (David) and Christine Baccari Briscoe (Derek) both of Omaha, Neb. Ruth Ann is survived by five great grandchildren who live in Omaha, Neb. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Helen Cleveland Thomsen of Spencer as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husbands, Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John "Jack" Cleveland.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Early United Methodist Church in Early.
