Helen DuAyne Baker, the daughter of Frank and Sarah (Jones) Baker, was born in Marissa, Ill., on Oct. 22, 1909. She lived her youth and received her education in Marissa, graduating from the Marissa High School.
Helen was united in marriage to Eugene Hutton Baugher in Sullivan, Mo., and this couple was blessed with three children: Robert, Janet, and Sarah. During their married lifetime, Eugene and Helen resided in Sullivan and St. Louis, Mo. and Marissa, Ill. Eugene was a dental technician and Helen was a devoted homemaker for her family. Eugene died in 1969. Helen came to make her home in Sioux Rapids in 2001 and she became a resident of the Sioux Care Center in 2004.
She had been an active member of the First Baptist Church in Marissa where she had taught a Sunday School until her 90th birthday. Helen was also active in the Royal Neighbors of America, Busy Bees, and the Senior Center in Marissa.
Those who will always cherish her memory include her children: Robert Baugher of Marissa, Ill..; Janet Myers of Spencer.; and Sarah Alexander of Arnold, Mo.; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Robert; and 15 brothers and sisters.
Graveside services for Helen will be conducted on Monday, April 12, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the I.O.O.F Cemetery at Sullivan, Mo., with Rev. Scott Perry officiating. The Sliefert Funeral Home of Sioux Rapids and the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan, Mo., are in charge of the arrangements.
