Alta-Aurelia will be Warriors; sharing agreement decisions still in process

Thursday, March 18, 2010
Aurelia and Alta School boards have finalized mascot and colors that will represent the schools when they come together to share.

Students in grades eight through 11 voted on their choices and brought them to the boards.

The mascot will be the Warriors and the colors will be navy blue and red.

Students will now have the opportunity to come up with ideas on what the Warrior should look like.

With a number of questions on sports sharing contracts, it was suggested that the Alta and Aurelia board meet as a means of eliminating going back and forth for approvals. Together the two boards can make the decisions and save time.

It appears the baseball team, which will be a shared sport this summer, is larger than expected, said Terri Zimmerman, Alta's athletic director. The count is now 38, including 14 freshman. She recommended a freshman coach be hired to concentrate on these player.

Uniforms is one of the items that the boards will be discussing.
