Funeral services were Monday, March 8, 2010 at the United Church of Christ in Fonda, with Pastor Michael Harman officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Cemetery. The Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda was in charge of the arrangements.
Lucille Ruth Hout was born on March 30, 1919, in Fonda, the daughter of William and Elsie (Groth) Hout. She lived with her family in the Fonda area where she attended country school.
On Sept. 20, 1939, Lucille was united in marriage to Melvin Olson in Knoke. This union was blessed with two daughters: Karen and Karol.
Lucille was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking and enjoyed spending time with her family. Over the years, Lucille prided herself on making a warm and comfortable home for her family. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children: Karen (Milton) Voss of Fonda, and Karol (Don) Siepker of Albert City; grandchildren: Tammy (Bill) Lange; Lori (Todd) Romo; Scott (Sharon) Voss; Brenda (Tony) Dunson; Patty Crotty; Chris (Stephanie) Archer; Jim (Gretchen) Archer; twenty-three grandchildren; numerous extended family and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; two brothers: Henry Hout and Lester Hout; and one sister, Hazel Chiles.
