Angela Shelton, aclaimed filmmaker, writer, actress and speaker, will headline "Women's Night Out," March 25 at the Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer.

There will be music by area folk singer Chad Elliot, an elegant buffet dinner, door prizes and raffles and more. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., and tickets are available now. Call 712-262-4612 for information.

Shelton will speak on "love, Commitment and Legal Fees."

An actress and model since age 8, she has appeared in Becker, Chicago Hope, Pacific Blue, Silk Stalkings and many other TV series. She's been interviewed by Oprah and Larry King and appeared on the cover of the New York Times. Her film debut was in the lead role in Comfortably Numb, followed by Tumbleweeds, an adaptation of her own novel. She made my directing debut by traveling America interviewing other Angela Sheltons in an effort to survey random women about the secrets they keep. The film "Searching for Angela Shelton" put a spotlight on sexual abuse and domestic violence and started a grassroots movement of healing for abuse survivors worldwide.

She has spoken in Congress, at universities, military bases, schools and justice seminars.
