Artwork by five Alta students accepted for Youth Art Month 2010; on display in Des Moines

Five Alta Elementary and Middle School Students have had artwork selected for the 2010 Youth Art Month Exhibit. They include: Rachel Wienhold (Kindergarten) -- Kandinsky Dot Painting; Abigail Marcos (1st Grade) -- Chalk Goblin; Garrett Bauer (1st Grade) -- Chalk Goblin; Sierra Hill (1st Grade) -- Chalk Goblin and Bryce Radke (Sixth Grade) -- Patterned Figures Painting.

The artwork by these students will be among approximately 100 pieces by students throughout Iowa, on display during March at the Iowa State Historical Museum. A special awards ceremony will also be held at the historical museum on Sunday, March 7 during which students will be recognized for this special achievement.

Garrett Bauer's chalk goblin piece has received the special honor of being included in the Governor's Exhibit. Following the March 7 ceremony, his work will be moved to the Iowa State Capital Building where it will be shown in the Governor's Office for the rest of the month of March. Garrett will also be further honored at an awards ceremony held in the Governor's Office on March 31.
