The Regional 4-H Ambassador project is a new effort to recognize 4-H youth for their excellence in 4-H project and program work, citizenship and leadership, and to provide those outstanding teens with additional 4-H opportunities at the regional and county levels.
Rachel completed the 4 hour training focused on preparing 4-H'ers to promote and market 4-H program and opportunities.
Regional 4-H ambassadors serve as 4-H spokespersons to strengthen County 4-H partnerships with government officials, the media, state associations, donors, civic groups, parents, volunteers and others. They also help develop, implement and improve 4-H youth development in Iowa.
A total of 11 youth representing four Northwest Iowa Counties attended the 4-H Ambassador Orientation workshop this year.
Iowa 4-H Youth Development is a program offered through Iowa State University Extension. 4-H is the nation's largest youth development organization, serving more than 6 million young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship, communication and life skills. One in five Iowa school-age youth are involved in 4-H.
