4-H Notes

The regular meeting of the Maple Valley Ag 4-H club was held on February 6th, 2010 at the Alta Elementary gym. The meeting was called to order by president Stacie Glienke at 7 p.m. The pledge of allegiance was led by Luke Arnts. Roll Call was answered by 17 members and many parents. The secretary's and treasurer's report were given and approved. February birthday's were: Luke Arnts, Jason Hinkeldey, Jenny Carlson, Valarie Hernandez, and Amanda Dunsten.

New Business: See the motivator for the upcoming workshops and 4-H news. Sign up for Special sheep or special swine starting on Feb. 1. Poultry workshop: Feb. 11, 7 p.m.. ID forms due for pen of three beef animals by Feb. 23. 4-H Day at ISU Women's basketball ball game is Feb. 27. Woodworking workshop is March 4. Bottle bucket workshop is March 8. Clothing workshop is March 2. $15 challenge workshop is March 27. Sign up for 4-H basketball festival to be held on March 28 in Newell. FSQA training and testing will be Monday, April 19 at Storm Lake Middle school.

The meeting was adjourned with the 4-H pledge led by Mark Schmidt. Jacob Husman told us all about fishing. Tyler Crum explained how he built his rocket. Jenny Carlson showed us how to make the snack called bird seed. Stephanie Carlson did her presentation about how to make an educational presentation.

Our next meeting will be held on March 6 at the Alta Elementary gym. Hosts will be Shelby Meyer, Stephenie & Tyler Robbins, and Jason Hinkeldey. Presenters will be Amy & Ange Rehnstrom, Lesa & Katie Turnquist, Holly Hinkeldey, Shelby Meyer, Stephenie & Tyler Robbins and Jason Hinkeldey.
