SL juvenile arrested in connection with concession trailer theft

* On Sept. 15, 2009 the Storm Lake Police Department took a report of a burglary to a concession trailer at the Storm Lake High School Football Stadium.

The reporting party told police that person(s) unknown gained entry to the concession trailer and removed approximately $1,000 in cash.

An investigation was conducted and on Jan. 7, Storm Lake Police recovered the stolen bank bag from the concession trailer at a residence located at 1213 Oneida Street.

At 5:30pm on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 police arrested a juvenile male, age 14 of Storm Lake and charged him with Burglary 3rd Degree (class D felony) and Theft 2nd Degree (class D felony). He was processed and transported to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee, pending a court date.

The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.

Two SL women arrested after fight

* On Sunday, Jan. 10, at approximately 3:30 p.m. the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to a fight in progress at 1804 East Milwaukee Avenue #132.

Upon arrival of police they determined that two females had allegedly engaged in a physical fight with each other. The two women are identified as Cieara Rayne Thomas, age 22 and Jennifer Berry, age 26 both of Storm Lake.

Police arrested both women and upon escorting them to waiting police vehicles police allege that Thomas resisted and struggled with police at which time she was subdued.

Police charged Berry with Domestic Assault. Police charged Thomas with Domestic Assault and Interference With Official Acts. They were both booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.

Thomas sustained minor injuries in the disturbance but did not require medical attention.

Partial power outage caused by electrical fault at Casey's

* On Friday, Jan. 8, the Storm Lake Fire Department responded to Casey's West located at 222 West Milwaukee Avenue in reference to a partial power outage.

Upon arrival of fire fighters they determined that store staff heard a loud noise at which time the store lost partial power. Fire fighters determined that no hazardous conditions were present and Mid American Energy was dispatched to the scene and located and repaired an underground electrical fault.

The fire department was on scene for approximately 20 minutes and was assisted at the scene by the Storm Lake Police Department and Mid American Energy personnel.
