Sivinski earns Northwest Iowa Honor Band honors

Nikole Sivinski, daughter of Joel and Penny Sivinski, has been selected for the third year into the Northwest Iowa Honor Band. She is a junior flute player at Alta High School.

Nikole is a very active participant in band. This is her third year of making the high school. She also participated in the Jr. High NWI honor band when she was in eighth grade. Out of all of the flutes auditioning, the judges selected 13 flutes/piccolos for each of two equal honor bands (26 flutes/piccolos in total). For her audition, Nikole played three scales selected by the judges, her chromatic scale, and two prepared etudes.

The Honor Band Festival will be held Jan. 9 at Eppley Auditorium on the Morningside College campus in Sioux City. The concert is open to all who want to attend but there is a ticket fee. Nikole's band director is Katie Lorenzen.
