Council approves purchase of new city truck, revamped parking ordinance

Street Superintendent Brad Pedersen presented four bids for a new pickup during last week's Alta City Council meeting and stated they all meet the specifications requested. Bid comparisons were made and following review, it was decided to accept the low bid of $23,839 from Rasmussen Ford in Storm Lake. The truck currently being used will be retained and continue to be used when needed. The truck should be delivered in eight to 12 weeks.

In other business, the council:

* approved the renewal beer application for Casey's

* approved the reappointment of Tom Stanton to the board of Adjustment. His term had expired; the new appointment is for an additional five years.

* approved to purchase 80 folding chairs from the Methodist Church that they have for sale. The chairs will be used at the community building. Cost of the chairs is $8 each.

* adopted Ordinance No. 1147 which amends the 2008 ordinance relating to prohibitions regarding parking of certain vehicles on certain areas of private property and the city right of way. the second and third readings were waived. (You may view this complete ordinance at City Hall.

* approved a sidewalk replacement application from Adeline Otto for the property located at 318 Cherokee Street was approved

* approved pay estimate number two in the amount of $77,819.91 to Haselhoff Construction for work on the fire station
