For ninth year, Alta student pays tribute to local veterans
For the last nine years Shelby Meyer has made a point to honor "her" veterans. When she first started she would make individual gifts such as pins or Christmas ornaments. As she got older and busier she started writing annual editorials to remind people of Veteran's Day and not to forget "her heroes". This year she presented the VFW with a picture that she drew in art class especially for the local VFW. Shelby is pictured with Alta VFW members/World War II veterans who recently took part in the Honor Flight - Doc. H.J. Kestel, Desel Caboth, Rollie Roberts, Harold Geisinger and Floyd Courtright. Shelby has always been a very patriotic girl and is very proud to be an American. Recognizing the veterans is her way of saying "thank you" for all of her freedoms and to honor her grandfathers, Garland Meyer and Donn Kischer and her great-uncles Kenny and Ronald Meyer. Shelby is the daughter of Jim and Amy Meyer and is a senior at Alta High School.
