Funeral Mass was Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake with Father Bruce Lawler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
Margaret was born Oct. 17, 1921 in Sulpher Springs, to Edward and Rose Mernin. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church and remained a faithful, lifelong member. She attended school at Providence School in Sulpher Springs, graduating in 1939.
Margaret was united in marriage to Vernon Sievers of Newell, on July 31, 1946. They resided on an Albert City farm their entire married life. Following Vernon's death in 1992, Margaret moved to Storm Lake. In her younger years, she worked in various hospitals and doctors' offices as a practical nurse. She was a member of St. Mary's Church Guild, C.D. of A., choir, Women's Club and enjoyed playing her clarinet with the Storm Lake Municipal Band.
Her hobbies included music, reading, crocheting and card clubs.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; her parents, Edward and Rose; and one brother, Gene.
Survivors include her children: Steve (Eveleen) Sievers of Sioux City; Robert (Karen) Sievers of Albert City; Tom (Marlene) Sievers of Storm Lake; Joleen (Joel) Kragt of Mt. Prospect, Ill.; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one sister, Fidelis and her husband Edwin Hibbs of Storm Lake; one brother, Harold and his wife Lois of Fridley, Minn.; sister-in-law, Mary Mernin of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.
