Team Mork comes together for family
The Alta community is preparing for a new event, known as Team Mork.
Friends and family are coming together to fight for team member Tracy Mork. Tracy is a 20-teaching veteran of the Alta Community School system. Currently Tracy is teaching computer instruction for grades K-8. Tracy is a graduate of Storm Lake High School and Buena Vista University and has a masters in Computer Technology from Morningside University.
Tracy is the wife of Tom Mork, who works for the Iowa Lottery in Storm Lake. Tom and Tracy are parents of Camryn, fifth grade, and Keaton, third grade, students at the Alta Community School. Tracy is dealing with some challenging medical problems.
A Team Mork Day is being planned for Saturday, Oct. 24t. Teammembers will be hosting a high school co-ed and an adult co-ed volleyball tournament. Volleyball will begin at 1 p.m.
A 5k walk/run is also being planned and will take place at the Alta Golf Course. Start time will be 9 a.m.
Iowa State University will provide a one-hour basketball camp for elementary kids in the Alta High School gym. Time TBA.
Karaoke will be provided, concessions will be available and run by Alta's fall sport athletes. The day will conclude with a free-will donation meal to be served in the elementary lunchroom, beginning at 5 p.m.
If you are interested in having a volleyball team, or entering the 5k, please call the Alta Middle School, 1-712-1401, to sign up. Cost is $30 per team or $20 per individual. A silent auction will be on-going throughout the day. Items for the silent auction may be brought to the Alta Middle School. Winners will be announced at 7 p.m.
