The Albert City Public Library Board is pleased to inform the public that Director, Mary Johnson, finished the first half of her Public Library Management classes in May 2009 and received the full 75 out of 75 points to pass the first session. Mary has just begun the second half of her classes. It is another 8 week course that ends in October. When she finishes, she will be awarded her certificate in Library Management, a requirement of the State Library of Iowa and to uphold the Tier 3 level of accreditation held by the Albert City Public Library. Congratulations Mary, and good luck with your studies.
This summer the library acquired several issues of four Swedish magazines and books dealing with Swedish heritage. They are: The Swedish-American Historical Quarterly, Swedish American Genealogist the book, Sweden & America, and Swedish American Genealogist the magazine. We are pleased to have these available in our Library because of the huge Swedish heritage of many of our townspeople. Thank you to Ken Peterson, brother of Maurice Peterson of Albert City, for donating these fine books and magazines to our library.
