Area law enforcement officials are searching for a man and woman who apparently worked a scheme to rob a good samaritan on the roadside and threaten his life.
Clay County Sheriff Randy Krukow said that Thursday morning shortly after 6 a.m. a man stopped to try to help a woman standing at the roadside with her car's hood up, on 470th Street near the intersection of county blacktop M27.
While the samaritan was looking under the hood, a man slipped out of the car, came up behind the victim and ordered him to the ground. The male suspect thrust a hard object into the man's back and said that he had a gun. The victim did not actually see a weapon.
The suspect told the man who had stopped to help that he would shoot him if he didn't stay on the ground. Then the man and the woman left the area with the victim's cash, driving a newer Mitsubishi Eclipse, reddish or maroon in color. The victim didn't see the license plate.
The man was a white male, age 35-40, 6'1"-6'3" tall, slim and was described as scruffy and unshaven. He was wearing baggy pants and a white t-shirt. The woman was white, 25-40, short and heavy - around 5'3" and 250 pounds. She had brown shoulder-length hair and was wearing jeans and a red shirt.
