A Musical 'Splash' for King's Pointe

Summer of music rolls on... Exit 113, the popular cover rock band from Des Moines, plays the Pointe August 21. The band features performers from age 20 to 50, with a wide repertoire of hits from the '50-'70s, along with blues, swing, more recent music, and some originals. Other performers booked are local rockers Tequila Sunrise July 31, Who's Drivin on August 22, and the young Lakes classic rock trio BB and the Bullfrogs August 29.

Amid its first year of an ambitious weekly live music schedule, the King's Pointe resort in Storm Lake will host Splashapalooza August 14-16.

The weekend will be filled with music and family fun.

Events begin on Friday, August 14th with the Iowa Great Lakes band the Senn-Menn playing from 8-11 p.m.

There will be outdoor grilling from 5-8.

Events continue Saturday, August 15th with a Kids Arts & Crafts Tent all day. There will be lawn inflatable attractions from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. including the Giant Slide, Bounce House and Millie the Millipede, as well as a dunk tank.

"Silly Sally the Clown" will perform from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., with balloon sculptures and juggling performances.

The classic rock band Slow Jam performs from 4-7, with outdoor grilling.

The headline band, blues rockers Fabulous Thunderbirds, are on stage from 8-11 p.m.

On Sunday, the Kids Arts & Crafts Tent will be open, with outdoor grilling, Silly Sally the Clown and a karaoke contest, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
