Richard Lode of Sioux Rapids who has approached both the Buena Vista County Treasurer and the Supervisors about purchasing a parcel of area in the Sioux Rapids area will be meeting with the Supervisors today The Supervisors gave the go ahead earlier this year for a survey to be completed on the parcel of land. Currently the County has a tax sales certificate on the property. Bach said the survey is necessary because the County's current legal description on the property doesn't match how the parcel is laid out. Bach says when the legal description was created in the 1920's the area was one parcel of land but over the years Highway 71 was added and the Little Sioux River changed its course so the parcel become two parcels, however, the new description was never changed on the tax certificate. Bach says every time there was a time of transfer the description remained the same. Bach says the survey has been completed and a legal description is being created, however, Auditor Karen Strawn says Lode is unhappy about how long the project has taken and says Tuesday's meeting will allow the Board to hear Lode's situation and get up to date on how the project is coming along. Bach says a survey will allow them to make the change on the description and get the property back on the tax roll. Bach says currently there are two deeds out there for the property and the survey will allow them to determine ownership.
