The Siouxland Community Blood Bank's 9th annual Heroes Unite donor recruitment campaign began on Monday, June 1. A Storm Lake community blood drive will be held on Tuesday, July 7th from noon to 6 p.m. at BVRMC.
Hereos Unite is a competition between Siouxland communities to see who can collect the most units of blood to reward their fire and rescue squads with a cash prize.
Two communities will each be named winners of a $1000 cash prize sponsored by Cargill, McClintock Insurance, Inc., and Prestige Collision Repair Center all of Sioux City. The cash prize will be used to for needed safety equipment.
Heroes Unite runs from June 1 through July 31. One category is for communities who host blood drives one time during the campaign and the other is for the communities who host more than one blood drive during the campaign.
Donating in a blood drive held by a community will award the point towards that community unless otherwise specified at the time of donation.
To be eligible to donate blood towards a community, the donor must be 17 years old (16 with a signed parental consent form found at www.siouxlandbloodbank.org, in general good health and not have donated within the past 56 days. The Siouxland Community Blood Bank is a nonprofit organization that has been in operation since 1967 to serve the Siouxland area's blood needs.
