Garden Club Flower Show

The 2009 Flower show will be held on Thursday, June 11 at the Methodist Church Family Life Center. Entry books are now available. Call Flower Show Chairman, JoAnn Olsen at 732-1238 while supply is good. There are 12 design classes. Entry times are June 10 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and Thursday morning from 7:30 to 9 a.m. We welcome anyone in the community to enter, and challenge the Master Gardeners to enter their lively specimens.

Closed judging takes place from 10 to 1 p.m. The show is open to the public for viewing at 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is free of charge. The Garden Cafe will be open, serving treats and beverages for a donation.

Alta Alumni Banquet

The Alta Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday, June 13 at the Alta Community Center.

The meal will be served at 6 p.m. with the program to follow. Reservations may be made by calling Cindy Krause at 712-434-5895 after 6 p.m.

All graduates, former teachers, school staff and friends are encouraged to attend this event.

Highview Alumni Banquet Saturday

The Anual Highview Alumni Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Alta Presbyterian Church. Please call 296-4407 if you are planning to attend.

Memory Barn to hold open house

An open house will be held at the Wayne Stellish Memory Barn Sun. June 14 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Come enjoy food, fun, old time music and learn about farming in the past. The barn is full of old items and antiques from years gone by. Owner Wayne Stellish has many stories to tell about the family farm. The barn is located at 5975 T. Ave., Aurelia, IA. All free, everyone is welcome.

St. Mary's offering communion for disabled class

St. Mary's Parish will be offering a special series of classes for developmentally or physically disabled students and/or adults who would like to prepare for their Sacrament of First Communion.

At this time, organizers plan to conduct the classes weekly on Sunday nights, but will be flexible regarding the various needs of the participants.

AA meetings held every week

AA Meetings are held every Thursday at noon at St. Mark's Church and every Saturday at 8 p.m. at St. John's (basement).
