Cyclones come from behind in rout of O-A

Monday, June 1, 2009

ALTA - The Alta baseball team overcame an early 2-0 deficit, knocking home seven runs in the fifth inning to make the score 12-2 and end the game after just five innings.

Ben Stevens went 2-4 with 4 RBIs, Jeremy Lambert was 2-2 with a pair of singles and a walk, and Cameron Manteufel, Austin Stille and Andrew Allerdings all added singles.

Schuyler Radke went 4-4 with four RBIs and pitched all five innings, giving up one earned run.

I was extremely proud of our effort tonight," said Alta head coach Dan Wendell. "We became patient at the plate, and it paid off big as the game wore on. We have really worked hard on being more consistent hitting the off speed pitch and curve ball. We took advantage of some of their mistakes and added timely hitting to come out on top. This was a nice win for us as this game was sandwiched in the middle of two very tough teams in Spencer and Okoboji."

Alta is back on the diamond Monday, hosting Sioux Central in their Northwest Conference opener. JV begins at 5:30PM with varsity to follow.
