Newell man charged with trepass for sleeping in apartment

* On Monday, May 18, at approximately 5:00 pm, Storm Lake Police took a report of a trespass which occurred at a residence located at 1800 East Milwaukee Avenue #106.

Police were told that on the morning of Sunday, May 17, at approximately 2:00 am, the reporting party allegedly found a man sleeping at their apartment without permission. Reportedly the man entered the apartment through an open window.

Police investigated the incident and on Tuesday, May 19, arrested Chase Wilson, age 19 of Newell, in the 500 block of Lake Avenue. Police charged Wilson with Criminal Trespass. He was processed and released pending a court date.

Lakeside man arrested for OWI on Hwy 71

* On Saturday, May 17, at 2:13 a.m., a Clay County Deputy intiated a traffic stop in the 4600th block of Hwy 71 for a traffic violation. Upon investigation, it was found that Serell Lamb, age 38, of Lakeside had been drinking. Lamb was run through several field sobriety tests and was later placed under arrest. Lamb was then transported to the Clay county Jail without incident. Lamb was Charged with O.W.I. (first offense) and for Excessive Speeding.

Albert City man arrested for OWI after equipment violation

* On Friday, May 16, at 1:21 a.m., a Clay County Deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 2300th block of M-50 for an equipment violation. Upon investigation, it was found that Mario Zubia, age 26, of Albert City, had been drinking. Zubia was then run through several field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for Operating While Intoxicated. Zubia was transported to the Clay County Jail without incident. Zubia was charged with O.W.I. (third offense), a Class "D" Felony.

Accidents

* On May 19, at approximately 2:10 pm, at 1831 N. Lake Avenue in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Lyle Morse of Newell, was involved in an accident with another vehicle driven by Sara Carlson of Storm Lake. The two vehicles collided causing total damages estimated at $700.

* On May 18, at approximately 3:19 pm, at 825 Flindt Drive in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Andrea Allbee of Storm Lake was involved in an accident with another vehicle driven by Ramona Patton of Chicago, Ill. The two vehicles collided causing total damages estimated at $100.

* On May 18, at approximately 3:10 pm, at 225 W. Milwaukee Avenue in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Kerry Vanhouten of Alta, was involved in an accident with another vehicle driven by Michael Huegerich of Laurens. Total damages were estimated at $3,000.

* On May 14, at approximately 5:42 pm, at 300 Flindt Drive in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Kyle Knoblock of Inwood, was involved in an accident with another vehicle driven by Daniel Jurrens of Hawarden. The Knoblock vehicle struck the Jurrens Vehicle which was parked waiting to unload. Total damages were estimated at $2,000.

Theft/Vandalism

* On May 19, a theft of a bicycle was reported from 1017 Michigan Street in Storm Lake. The bike was valued at $100.

* On May 18, a vandalism to a vehicle at 200 College Avenue in Storm Lake was reported. Damages were estimated at $400.

* On May 18, a vandalism to a vehicle at 909 Pleasantview Drive in Storm Lake was reported. Damages were estimated at $450.

* On May 14, a burglary to the residence at 525 Oneida Street in Storm Lake was reported. The total value of the items reported missing was estimated at $6,436.
