Iowa Central Community College is sponsoring a fall session of the AARP 55 Alive Drive Safety Program. 55 Alive is an innovative, classroom driver retaining program designed to help persons age 50 and above to improve their driver knowledge and skills.

The program is being offered Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 13 and 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Sac City Public Library, located at 1001 West Main Street in Sac City.

Developed by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), 55 Alive Driver Safety Program is the first comprehensive driver retaining course geared to the specific needs of older motorists. The course material covers the effects of aging and medications on driving, basic driving rules, license renewal, local traffic hazards, adverse road conditions, basic vehicle information, energy conservation and accident prevention measures. Many insurance companies offer discounted rates to participants completing the two-day course.

There is a $10.00 registration fee collected at the first meeting to cover the cost of materials. Preregistration is required. To enroll or obtain additional information, contact ICCC at 1-800-362-2793, extension 2329.
