AURELIA - Fueled by an 18-0 spurt in the third quarter, Aurelia kept its 8-man football playoff hopes alive with a 52-38 win over Sentral of Fenton on Friday night.
Aurelia trailed 22-21 at halftime, but scored 18 unanswered points in the third quarter to take a 39-22 lead. It was all academic after that.
"This was one of the most fun games I've ever been involved in," Aurelia coach Myron Radke said. "The third quarter we just took over. We scored 18 points and they didn't score at all. That was the difference in the game. We came out and decided to play football."
Heath Brecher scored on touchdown runs of 5, 12 and 4 yards for Aurelia, now 6-1 overall. Kasey Reilly scoredon touchdown runs of 51 and 17 yards, and threw three TD passes - all to Brent Kai - covering 8, 36 and 19 yards.
Brecher and Neil Gustafson led Aurelia's defense with 14 tackles apiece.
