ALTA - Jon Nielsen rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown to help Alta get past Remsen-Union 30-21 in a Class A district game Friday night.
"I think the difference in the game was our offense did a good job of having long, sustaining drives," Alta coach Kevin Hammer said. "We had good ball control. Coach (Rory) Payne did a good job of mixing up the plays offensively. Our line did a good job of staying with their blocks. Jon ran hard for us and had a really good game."
Eric Hanson gave Alta the early lead with a 4-yard TD run. Blake Huseman later put the Cyclones ahead 16-6 with a 1-yard run in the second quarter.
After a 51-yard TD scamper by Shawn Parker made it 16-13, Alta's Josh Droegmiller scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak.
Nielsen added a 2-yard plunge in the fourth quarter to put the Cyclones ahead to stay 30-21.
Hanson finished with 25 yards rushing for Alta. Parker rushed for 123 yards for the Rockets.
Nate Wiese led Alta's defense with 15 tackles. Nielsen had 13, Luke Nielsen eight and Droegmiller seven for Alta, now 3-4 overall.
