CORRECTIONVILLE - River Valley scored 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to rally and beat Galva-Holstein 29-19 in a Class 1A district football game last Friday night at Correctionville.
The Pirates held a 19-7 lead at halftime, but couldn't hold it. The Wolverines scored a touchdown in the third quarter and two in the fourth.
Kellen Ludvigson threw three TD passes - a 5-yarder to Scherb, a 20-yard strike to Still and a 40-yard pass to Still.
Jacob Brosamle opened the scoring with a 95-yard kickoff return for Galva-Holstein. Lucas Doxtad scored on a 3-yard quarterback keeper to make it 13-7 Pirates in the first quarter.
Galva-Holstein extended the lead to 19-7 when Gavin Hanson intercepted a pass and returned it 42 yards for a TD.
Galva-Holstein was victimized by four fumbles. The Pirates rushed for 272 yards on 50 attempts. Scott Breyfogle led the way with 113 yards on 18 carries. Brosamle had 89 yards.
Justin Allen made 10 tackles on defense for the Pirates. Chris Fiddelke added nine, while Matt Nobles, Evan Smith, Kiley Gerritsen and Joe Williams all had six apiece.
Galva-Holstein is now 5-1 in the district and 5-2 overall.
