He was born on Nov. 26, 1929, the son of Clem and Grace (Horton) Francis. He was raised on a farm near Linn Grove. Following graduation from Linn Grove High School, he attended and graduated from Buena Vista College and also served with the United States Navy.
On Oct. 21, 1951, he was united in marriage to Madonna Rickman. He was employed by Hygrade Food Products in Storm Lake for 20 years in sales. He then started his own pork boning operation in Omaha, Neb. in 1975. He sold his interest in this company in 1979 and returned to Storm Lake and operated the Odd Sized Window Co.
Mr. Francis was preceded in death by his father Clem; his wife Madonna; two brothers: Jon and Bruce and his in-laws Rick and Viola Rickman.
He is survived by his mother Grace of Methodist Manor; one son Michael and his wife Lori of Alcester, S.D.; one daughter Linda Weber and her husband Karl of Glenn Heights, Texas; one brother Ellis and his wife Phyllis of Storm Lake; one sister Jean Hurley and her husband Buck of Oak Island, N.C.; a sister-in-law Jean Francis of Buffalo Lake, Minn.; four granddaughters; many nieces and nephew.
