Funeral services for Shirley Wilson, 58, of Storm Lake, were held Saturday, Oct. 14, at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake, with Rev. Duane Queen officiating.
Casketbearers were Larry Davenport, Charles Dahl, Bill Wilson, James Vanscoyk, Mark Prosser and Ray Brady. Honorary bearers were Tim Pierce, Phil Redenbaugh, Phil Stimson, Craig Schroeder and Dallas Enns. Burial was in Storm Lake Cemetery with Sliefert Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Wilson passed away Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Buena Vista County Hospital.
Shirley Elaine, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Polley) Yates, was born on July 9, 1942 at New Hampton, Mo. She lived with her parents on the family farm near New Hampton, where she graduated from Bethany High School.
On Oct. 6, 1976, she was united in marriage to Glen (Woody) Wilson at Newell. She brought to the marriage two children: Jackie and Rod.
She was a member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church. She worked as a supervisor at Spectra Health Care. Later, she and her husband purchased and operated the Embers Restaurant and Lounge in Storm Lake.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; one brother and one granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband; her children: Rod Stevens of Alta; Jackie Noble and her husband Brad of Storm Lake; two brothers: Charles and Ila Yates and Dwayne and Margaret Yates, all of Bethany, Mo.; four grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
