Storm Lake Police filed additional charges on Oct. 15 to a subject who was already in custody on a drug related arrest.

On Oct. 8, Storm Lake Police arrested a subject who identified himself as Mohamed Yusuf Abdi, 21, for Possession of a Controlled Substance. At the time of the arrest, the subject was jailed.

Relatives of the arrested subject came to the Storm Lake Police Station from Eden Prairie, Minn. and advised police that the subject being held was not Abdi, but instead a 15-year old male identified as Osman Ahmed Aden.

Using this new information, police were able to confirm the juvenile's identity with the U.S. Department of Immigration and Naturalization.

Aden was removed from the Buena Vista County Jail and transferred to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee. Storm Lake Police also filed an additional charge on Aden of Obstructing Prosecution By Providing a False Name, an aggravated misdemeanor.

The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.
