Schaller-Crestland coach Dale Tokheim talked about what he gathered from watching the Indians on film.
"They run a wide open offense," he said. "They spread you out and go four wide and run a lot of motion. We're going to run a 5-2 and hope that we can stop the run and play our zone defense, and hopefully, everybody can carry out their assignment."
"They run a 5-3 and a 6-2 defense and they're pretty good at stopping the run," Tokheim added. "They're a lot like us - they've had a lot of close games. They're probably going to do a lot of stunting and attacking."
Tokheim talked about the concerns he has for this game.
"Offensively, being able to pass block better than what we have," he said. "We need some time to throw and keep them honest. Defensively, we are concerned with Adam Wellington. He is a very good quarterback both running and throwing the ball."
The Wildcats must get better in certain areas if it wants to enjoy a homecoming victory.
"We've got to keep our turnovers down," Tokheim said. "We've had several turnovers at key points in the game. We have to play with more intensity."
‰ Aurelia hosts Sentral of Fenton in a crucial 8-man matchup in Aurelia. Playoff spots are on the line.
"We're in a situation that's really unique for Aurelia in a long time," coach Myron Radke said. "If we win our next two games we're in the playoffs. We have a legitimate shot at it."
Friday night's game will be a stern test for the Bulldogs. Sentral shellacked Remsen St. Mary's 70-16 last week. Aurelia rallied to beat Remsen 21-18 earlier this season.
Radke offered an assessment of Sentral both offensively and defensively.
"They like to run the option and the iso play, and they run the option very well," he said. "Their down linemen average around 280 pounds - they're just huge. They have a smart quarterback and a tough fullback. Defensively, they run a three or four-man front, but they're so big you can't move them."
Radke discussed how the Bulldogs will best defense Sentral's offense.
"Physically, they like to run right at you. The quarterback likes to either hand off to the fullback or keep it himself. He doesn't like to pitch very much."
"We're going to pinch down on the fullback and go after the quarterback as much as we can to make him pitch it earlier."
