SL plays Spencer tough

Friday, October 13, 2000

SPENCER - Jill Parman charted 29 set assists and Michelle Bowman added 25, but it wasn't enough as Spencer defeated Storm Lake 15-7, 15-4, 15-10 in a Lakes Conference volleyball match Monday night.

The Tornadoes, now 0-7 in the league and 5-17 overall, received nine serving points from Ashley Mason and four from Mary Phiakhamta. Karen Sennert recorded seven attacks with four kills, while Meredith Stille had five attacks with three kills.

"We started off with a 7-1 lead in the first game and the girls were pumped," Storm Lake coach Jacquie Bauer said. "I was happy with our play. Spencer is second in our conference behind Western Christian and we played well against them. We seem to play right with everyone but just not over them."

Spencer won the junior varsity match 15-1, 15-7, 15-2. Crystal Woodford tallied five serving points. Lisa Bowman charted 15 sets with one assist, while Amanda Jones had six attacks.
