Funeral services for Alice M. Matson, 57, of Sioux City, formerly of Marathon, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Marathon with Rev. David Schumann officiating.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. today at the Storm Lake Cemetery. Smith-Loterbour-Powers Funeral Home of Laurens is in charge of the arrangements.
She passed away Thursday, Oct. 5 at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City.
Alice Mae was born on April 13, 1943, the daughter of Wilbur and Fern (Martin) Peterson, Sr., near Marathon. She attended school in Marathon, graduating from Marathon High School in 1961. Following high school, she attended a lab technicians college in Minneapolis, Minn.
She was married twice and helped raise three step-children. Most of her adult life was spent in Sioux City where she ran a day care out of her home.
Mrs. Matson was a member of the United Methodist Church in Marathon and a volunteer for the Salvation Army.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law Howard Andersen.
Mrs. Matson is survived by two sisters: RoseBelle Andersen of Webb and Sharon and her husband Darrell McConkey of Storm Lake; one brother Wilbur Peterson of Maurice; three step-children; several nieces and nephews.
