CARROLL - Kristin Rude and Kayla Snow each finished second in one event, and two relay teams also placed second to highlight Storm Lake's performance in a triangular swim meet Tuesday night. Carroll won the meet with 139 points. Boone scored 103 and Storm Lake 79.
Rude posted a time of 27.45 seconds in the 50 freestyle, while Snow swam a time of 6 minutes, 12.72 seconds in the 500 freestyle. The 200 freestyle relay team of Rude, Billie Blanchard, Nichole Ahlers and Kelly Schultz placed second with a time of 1:53.48. The 400 freestyle unit of Rude, Ahlers, Amber Griffin and Snow was second in 4:20.65.
Steph Klar finished third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:21.46, as did Snow in the 200 individual medley in 2:43.20, Schultz in the 50 freestyle in 28.41, and Lyndsey Reinert in the 100 backstroke with a clocking of 1:16.36.
Placing fourth were Rude in the 100 freestyle in 1:04.02, Klar in the 500 freestyle in 6:33.75, Kelly Larson in the 100 breast stroke in 1:22.47, and the 200 medley relay team of Kayla Gutz, Larson, Jessica Anderson and Schultz with a time of 2:12.87.
* Storm Lake finished second in the junior varsity meet with 104 points. Carroll was the winner with 120.
Emily Holliday was a double-winner, taking the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:24.09 and the 100 freestyle in 1:04.47. Blanchard won the 500 freestyle in 29.02 seconds, while the 200 freestyle relay team of Holliday, Angie Hohneke, Gutz and Anderson were first with a time of 2:03.13.
Matty Richardson placed second in the 50 freestyle in 29.80, as did Ashley Gustifson in the 100 breast stroke in 1:30.11.
C.B. Lewis Central Dual
Storm Lake dropped a dual meet to Council Bluffs Lewis Central 99-71 Monday night. Ahlers finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:25.12, as did Snow in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:41.41 and the 100 backstroke in 1:12.62.
Rude was second in the 50 freestyle in 27.93 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 1:03.20, as was Larson 100 breast stroke in a time of 1:22.89. The 200 medley relay unit of Snow, Larson, Anderson and Schultz finished second with a time of 2:13.87, while the 200 freestyle tandem of Rude, Blanchard, Griffin and Schultz placed second in 1:55.87.
Placing third were Holliday in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:25.39, Griffin in the 100 butterfly in 1:19.34 and the 100 breast stroke in 1:25.45, Klar in the 100 freestyle in 1:06.88 and Ahlers in the 500 freestyle in 6:43.75. The 200 medley team placed third in 2:20, as did the 200 freestyle relay in 2:04.25 and the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:21.10.
"Our times were better at Carroll than the night before, but it's hard to swim meets back-to-back," Storm Lake coach Deb Blanchard said.
