Schaller-Crestland outlasts AC-T spikers - PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP

ALBERT CITY - Karla Hogrefe went 44-for-49 in hitting with 18 kills and Emily Ehlers was 33-for-36 with 17 kills, butit wasn't enough as Schaller-Crestland got past Albert City-Truesdale 9-15, 15-13, 10-15, 15-7, 15-9 in a Northwest Conference match Wednesday night.

Ehlers and Lindsey Lullmann each went 15-for-15 in serving. April Schuknecht was 15-for-16 with three aces, Alicia Lovin 19-for-21 with two aces and Hogrefe 12-for-14. Schuknecht made good on 36 of 51 set attempts with 19 assists, while Lullmann was 20 of 32 with eight assists.

Ehlers charted nine digs, Hogrefe six and Lori Hogrefe five. Mandy Schramm recorded eight blocks, Alicia Erlandson six and Amanda Skog added four for the Hurricanes, now 9-8 overall.

Newell-Fonda 15-15-15, Sioux Central 11-10-10

Lindsay Jensen went 10-for-11 in serving with one ace and 22-for-23 in setting with five assists as Newell-Fonda beat Sioux Central in a Northwest Conference match Wednesday night. Jenny Scharn went 15-for-16 in serving with one ace and 38-for-39 in setting with 10 assists.

Amanda Kies led the hitting effort, going 14-for-15 with seven kills. Sara Larsen was 13-for-14 with six kills, Molly Sievers 15-for-16 with three kills, Ashley Bellinghausen 10-for-12 with three kills and Heather Johnson 9-for-12 with four kills.

Shauna Braunschweig went 9-for-9 in serving with two aces and Mallary Chapman 8-for-8 with one ace. Erin Kies charted 11 digs.

Pomeroy-Palmer 15-15-15, Aurelia 5-3-2

Pomeroy-Palmer knocked off Aurelia in a Northwest Conference match Wednesday night. Kati Nelson led the Bulldogs in hitting, going 21-for-26 with three kills. Kim Parker was 17-for-18 with two kills. Parker and Alicia Buddenhagen were each 3-for-3 in serving.

Jessica Monical made good on 19 of 20 setting attempts with two assists, while Lindsay Ireland was 16 of 18 with two asssts. Parker tallied nine digs, while Jill Smith and Buddenhagen had four apiece. Liz Scharton recorded five blocks for the Bulldogs, now 4-3 in the league and 7-5-1 overall.

Storm Lake Junior Varsity/Freshmen

Sheldon defeated Storm Lake in a junior varsity match 15-3, 11-15, 15-5. Tawny Hendriks had 10 good serves and six points. Lisa Bowman charted 21 sets with one assist, while Lindsey Frederiksen tallied 12 attacks with one kill for the Tornadoes, now 2-8 overall. Sheldon won the freshman match 14-16, 15-5, 15-13. Danielle Lewis served six points, while Morae Youde added three serving points for the Tornadoes, now 0-10 overall.

Storm Lake Eighth Grade

The Storm Lake "A" team was defeated by South O'Brien 16-14, 15-5, 15-8 on Wednesday. Mel Fisher, Angie Demers and Heather Henrich were the top servers. The "B" team lost 7-15, 15-7, 15-12. Christa Moritz was 9-for-10 in serving, while Camie Brunning and Shandra Maier were each 7-for-9. The "C" team lost 15-11, 15-6, 15-7. Alyssa Enns went 7-for-9 in serving, while Alison Douglas was 6-for-8 and Gwen Inglis-Steinfeld 5-for-6.

Storm Lake's "A" team beat LeMars in three games earlier this week. Anna Paulson went 9-for-9 in serving, Jessica Overturf 5-for-6 and Ashlee DeLance 4-for-5. The "B" team was defeated. Brunning, Katie Sievers and Jordan Dietrich were all 6-for-8 in serving. The "C" team won as Enns was 7-for-7 in serving, Becky Mason 5-for-10 and Annie Cran 9-for-10.

Storm Lake Seventh Grade

The Storm Lake "A" team defeated Spirit Lake Wednesday by scores of 15-2, 15-12, 15-6. Missy Swanson went 14-for-15 in serving, while Ali Brashears was 9-for-9 and Sarah Lenth 8-for-8. The "B" team lost 16-14, 15-1, 15-5. Souninh Vithayasab was 6-for-8 in serving and Brashears 6-for-7.

The "C" team lost 13-15, 15-13, 15-5. Michaela Freeman went 16-for-18 in serving and Stephanie Rude was 10-for-11. The "D" team was defeated 10-15, 15-10, 16-14. Jasmine Carrasco went 14-for-16 in serving, while Tiffany Farrauto was 10-for-14.

The "A" team finished its season with a 5-4 record, while the "B" team was 5-4, the "C" team 4-4 and the "D" team 0-1.
